So, you just got a new drone and cant wait to use it. Congratulation, here are 7 tips on making sure you’re first wedding shoot with a done is a success.



Stay focused



First and foremost, don’t get carried away with the fact that you’re using a drone camera. Remember, the focus is on the wedding and not your drone. It’s easy to get carried away, Stay focused.



prepare



Test and prepare your drone for charge and batteries, the last thing you want is to run out of charge on your machine, Carry an extra set of batteries that are all charged up and ready to go.



plan ahead



Remember, your drone is going to take up more space and time to operate and shoot, Talk to the couple ahead of time and let them know you need an extra 10 to 15 minutes just for drone shots. Even spontaneous, candid shots need to be planned and prepped for. What might look like a spontaneous shot is most often pre-imagined by the photographer



NOT THE SAME AS YOUR CAMERA



Drones are best for distant shots, they are not your candid hand cameras. The closer to an object you want to shoot means more chances for accidents. Most powerful photography drones have fan blades that can cause serious damage. Never use them indoors unless you absolutely know what you’re doing.



LICENSE AND REGISTRATION PLEASE





Most wedding destinations require you to hold a flying license for a drone and that’s no joke. If there were to be a problem with the local authorities, it’s the wedding that would be affected. You don’t want to be responsible for ruining the most important day of the couples' lives. Discuss this with the venue owners and read up about local flying laws. Nothing's impossible as long as you abide by the rules and guidelines.
